Skiing on the Arlberg
The cradle of skiing
At the end of November, the winter season on the Arlberg finally starts again. At the 4-star-superior Goldener Berg Ski Hotel in Oberlech you are located in the middle of it and only have to step outside the door to get into your bindings. Ski-in, ski-out – is the motto.
The Arlberg, i.e. the region around the Arlberg mountain pass, is not the highest Austrian ski region, but definitely the most traditional and exclusive. Here are only some reasons:
- 340 km of pistes
- 200 km off-piste paradise
- Only Austrian ski region with heli-skiing
- The Goldener Berg Ski Hotel right on the ski run
- The “Cradle of ski sport” and Austria’s first Ski Club
- The legendary “The White Ring” ski race
- Guaranteed snow from late November till End of April
- World's second best ski resort (according to www.skigebiete-test.de, 2014/2015)
Beginners fun in the skiing schools
The Oberlech Skiing School is only a few metres away from your Goldener Berg ski resort. For almost 80 years the high art of alpine skiing has been taught here. In this ski school 35 experienced and professionally trained skiing instructors will take care of young racers from the age of 3 years as well as of older guests, who want to keep up with their grandchildren.
The White Ring
The more advanced and speedy skiers await a special challenge: The White Ring. This circular piste with 22 kilometres and an altitude of 5,500 metres is quite an adventure. Take the first cable car in the morning in order to have enough time to enjoy the Rüfikopf and Madloch viewing platforms. After this day you will sleep like a log in your cosy bed at the Goldener Berg Hotel.
A whole day in the fresh air makes you hungry and tired. Relax your skier calves in the Alpin SPA with a sports massage or a sauna. In the awarded restaurant our awarded chef, Christian Algner, will create a meal for you that will be the highlight of your winter holiday day.
